No beading workshop will be complete without the proper tools. In order to make jewelry and other beading projects, you will need all of the right
beading tools that are available to you, from
beading glues to
beading pliers.
The first tool that you cannot do any beading without is
memory wire cutters. These bead cutters will allow you to cut all different lengths of wire for your projects. Memory wire retains its shape well, so in order to cut it you will need a strong pair of cutters to do so. The cutters that are made for memory wire use a shear-like action in order to cut the wire, and the cuter will never dull like many other ordinary cutters can.
Another important beading tool is the beading mats. These are pieces of fuzzy matting that will allow you to keep your beads from rolling off of your work area while you are stringing. These mats come in handy when you nee do have your beads right there with you. Most mats also have the ability to roll up and store you project when you are not working on it. The mats also come in different colors that you can choose from, depending on what color beads you are working with.
Beading trays also come in handy when you are beading all day long. These are the best way to store beads that you are not ready to use yet or you can even use these trays as another way to separate the projects that you are working on. You can stack many of these trays on top of each other to save space in your workstation.
Another important beading tool for your workstation is beading glues. Depending on the material that you are working with, you will need different types of beading glues in order to complete all of your projects. Most people find that an all purpose jewelry glue will work for most projects. These glues as designed to be used on semi-precious stones, glass beads, bone based materials, and wire. The glue is formulated to make sure that it dries clear and holds your beads where you put them.
There are also other types of glue that are much stronger. Remember that all of these glues should be used with caution so that you don’t accidentally glue bead to your skin. You will also want to keep these products out of the reach of children.
